Structure of The Armory:

This group was started by myself, Dwight Belles author of Fighting Hawkeyes, founder and member of the board of directors to The Armory. The Armory ran for quite awhile, but I decided that I could not leave anything unchanged. So in July of 1998 I began to search for a co-chairman to start a board of directors to help run The Armory, and I finally found an excellent choice. He is an author like myself, Scott Washburn who has written several booklets on infantry tactics. There are two main purposes of the board of directors, first is to select a topic to be discussed so all the members can research it and know what to expect, but often times the discussions get going so fast that we branch from topic to topic and never really need to select a new topic. The second purpose aside from the for mentioned duty, the board of directors is to monitor the chat any and all un-called for language will be removed as well as the person making the statements.

How The Armory works:

For visitors you can use the link below to suggest a time to chat other than our regular Sunday night 8p.m.-10p.m. EST, 7p.m.-9p.m. CST, 6p.m.-8p.m. MST, 5p.m.-7p.m. PST, or you can simply use the other link below to go to the chat page. For those new to The Armory you follow the link called chat, and you are now to the chat page. Now on the bottom horizontal frame you pull down the scroll bar, and click "get/change handle". You simply put in your nickname that you wish to use, and pull down the scroll bar. Then you click on the "set handle" button, and you are ready to chat (of course you can look through the other options, but it is easier to just do this). I will warn you that you may need to press the "refresh" button which is located on the bottom horizantal frame to see the latest messages, so time it does it automatically and some times you have to use the button. A topic that is common to talk about are the different articles in various Civil War Magazines, and the most common are Civil War Times and America’s Civil War. If you don’t have a subscription no problem just follow the links below to read them on-line.
